Members Code of Ethics.

MEMBERS CODE OF ETHICS

Every member of Albany Kennel Club is obligated to protect the best interests of purebred dogs.

Every member should conduct himself in a manner that will reflect credit to himself, his breed(s) and the Albany Kennel Club.

Members who are breeders or who offer the use of stud dogs will to the best of their ability, strive to produce dogs of exceptional quality. They will use dogs for breeding purposes that are eligible for AKC registration or any other registries recognized by the AKC, or are recognized as a miscellaneous breed.

Members will not misrepresent their dogs or puppies to purchasers or through false or misleading advertisements.

It is considered unethical for members of Albany Kennel Club to sell or donate dogs to

commercial dog wholesalers or retailers; or in any manner aid and abet such activities, or donate dogs to auctions or for use as prizes in contests.

As breeders they will maintain high standards of care for their dogs.

Members will try to enlighten the public as to the Standards of their respective breeds, the care of their breeds and wherever they are qualified to help.

Breeder-members will always supply purchasers with: registration records unless there is a written agreement signed by the breeder and purchaser noting the reason that the papers are withheld, a four-generation pedigree and care information at the time of sale, and they will help the owners for the life of the dog in every reasonable way.

Members who offer the use of their dogs at stud will make every effort to refrain from breeding a bitch owned by an individual who deals with pet shops or wholesale dealers. Members will also do all they can to enlighten novice breeders to the responsibilities one assumes when becoming a breeder.

Members will uphold the rules of the American Kennel Club (AKC).

In joining this Club, I hereby agree to abide by its MEMBERS’ CODE OF ETHICS.
